Zamir Omaid (for Cosumnes River Athletics)

At Conway Field this last Tuesday, February 24, the CRC Hawks baseball team hosted the Shasta College Knights.

The first four innings belonged to the Knights with eight runs. We finally ran to home plate in the 5th inning and gained our first three runs on the scoreboard. The Knights were not easing up on the Hawks at all; they scored another three runs. Then, at the end of the 6th inning the scoreboard read 11-3, in favor of the Knights. However, the game changed the favor of the CRC Hawks when the Hawks came out on top with a whopping TEN runs in the 7th inning! After #28, Logan Marston, hit the ball out of the park, the 7th inning ended with the game's first and only homerun. CRC was ahead with a 13-11 lead.

The 7th inning was a great battle for the CRC Hawks and it gave us the upper hand and the spirit to keep going. Then, while playing with a great determination, the Knights scored another two runs in the 8th inning to tie with the CRC Hawks. However, it was not until Hawks' batter #8, Andre Gregory, standing tall at 6'1" and weighing at 180 pounds on home plate to bat and have his three teammates positioned on first, second and third base score another three runs. Go Andre!

To add on to Andre's lead followed #32, Alex Fitchett, who stands at 6'4" weighing at 220 pounds. Up at bat, Alex hit the ball to get two of his teammates to run to home plate. The 8th inning ended with Alex's run to home plate which added to a total of seven runs. The Conway Field scoreboard now reads CRC Hawks ahead of the Knights at 20-13. Go Alex!

After a three and a half hour game, the 9th inning ended when the CRC Hawks would not let up on the Knights. With three strikeouts, the Shasta College Knights were defeated.

The triumphant Hawks won a great game with the score reading 20-13.
