The Cosumnes River College Hawks (11-9, 1-3 BIG 8) lose a close battle against the Diablo Valley College Vikings (8-9, 3-1 BIG 8) 7 to 2. This game was the battle of both teams' aces. Rob Towne (5-1) and Josh Congress (4-2) kept the game close until DVC broke the game open in the bottom of the 7th. The Hawks relief pitching struggled, giving up 4 earned runs late in the game.
There was little to no offense to be found from the Hawks. The Hawks could only put together 4 hits in the contest. The Hawks will play at Conway field on Thursday for the second game of the three game series. Hopefully the Hawks can put a stop to there slow start in league play.
