Hawks Close Season On a Win

The Cosumnes River Hawks (19-21, 9-15 Big 8) win the last game of the regular season against Modesto College (17-23, 6-18 Big 8) 4 to 1. Dixon Burle was the Hawks leader in offense all year with a batting average of .367 and 17 stolen bases. Burle had one hit and scored a run in fridays contest. Joey Pankratz, had many big Hits for the hawks this year as he drove in a run and after scored himself. 

Josh Caldwell, who post a 4.72 ERA this season with a (3-5) record, threw 5 solid innings for the Hawks. Caldwell handed the ball off to the Hawks ace Josh Congress to finish the game. Congress, posted a 2.47 ERA this season with a (7-5) record. He also led the Big 8 conference in strikeouts with 88. Congress shut Modesto down once again Friday giving him his first save of the year. 

The Hawks finished with a final record of (19-21, 9-15 Big 8) and missed playoffs by one game. Cosumnes pitching staff finished with a final ERA of 4.67 in 2018. Offensively, they finished with an overall batting average of .273 with 17 home runs. The Hawks will likely return 19 of their freshman this year and will look to have a strong sophomore class in 2019.
