Hawks Suffer First Loss of Season

SACRAMENTO (2-17) – The Hawks played the second game of a three series against College of the Sequoias at Conway Field. The Giants scored ten runs in the seventh and eight innings en route to a 12-5 victory.

Jorge Montoya started the scoring for the Hawks hitting a solo home run in the third inning. Dean Lucas and JD Mico also scored in the third. Lucas would score again along with Greg Creamer in the bottom of the ninth inning. Lucas was the only Hawk with a multi-hit game going 2-4. Creamer, Alex Crouch, Mico, Montoya and Griffin Selby were the only other Hawks to have hits.

Many Hawk arms were used in this contest. Josh Caldwell started and went 4.2 innings before needing relief. Brian Freitas, Troy Davis, Ethan Torres, and Jorge Garcia all threw in relief as well.

Zach McCorvey got the win for the Giants while Freitas was the losing pitcher for the Hawks. Izaiah Davis earned the save.

The final game of the series between the two schools will be Monday at noon at Conway Field.
