This Week: The Hawks advanced to the CCCAA Northern California Baseball Super Regionals after defeating Feather River College 2-1, in a three-game series, last weekend. The super regionals will take place Thursday through Saturday and the Hawks-Mustangs match up will be at 2 pm on Thursday. 

Scouting the Hawks: Cosumnes River came in in the Big 8 Conference regular season standings with a 25-18 overall record and a 10-14 record in conference play. Sophomore Burle Dixon leads the Hawks with a .338 batting average. Sophomore Josh Caldwell leads the Hawks in ERA with a 3.15 ERA.

Scouting the: The Mustangs finished with a 35-7 overall record and won the Big 8 Conference regular season championship with a 19-5 record in conference play. Sophomore Vinny Bologna leads the Mustangs with a .409 batting average. Troy Wentworth leads the Mustangs with an 1.58 ERA.

Last Time Out: This is will be the fourth meeting between the two schools this season. The Mustangs won all three meetings between the two teams this season. The Hawks and Mustangs have eight common opponents – American River College, Diablo Valley College, Feather River College, Folsom Lake College, Modesto Junior College, Sacramento City College, Santa Rosa Junior College and Sierra College. Cosumnes River has a 12-12 record against those opponents while the Mustangs have a 17-5 record.

About The Coaches:

Don Mico is in his second year as head coach. He had previous coaching stops at Earl Wooster High School in Reno and Sacramento City College.

Reed Peters is the head coach of the Mustangs. He was formerly the head coach at NCAA Division I member Air Force, Colby Community College and Feather River College and was an assistant coach at NCAA Division I member University of Nevada-Las Vegas.
