HAWKS HAVE A BIG 2ND HALF TO BEAT SACRAMENTO

The Hawks were in a battle from the start of this game.  On offense, CRC was led by Jaycob Velasco and AJ Bridges, however after the first half the Hawks found themselves down by 4 points, 38-42.  At the halftime break, Head Coach James Giacomazzi made some great adjustments and challenged his team to come out and set the tone in the second half.  With that being said, that is just what the Hawks did, outscoring Sacramento 47-34.

In the second half the Hawks as a team played solid defense and controlled the game under the basket.  As a team, the Hawks combined for 39 rebounds, and spread the wealth around on offense with 20 assists.  Another strength that played a key role in the win was the shooting percentage for the Hawks during the game, they finished making 34-66, 51.5%.

Velasco and Bridges showed again that they are a major force and can take control of a game at any point.  Bridges ended the night with 6 assists and 21 points.  Velasco finished up the night with a double double, ending with 11 rebounds and 23 points.

The Hawks are on a 3 game winning streak, and are 7-1 at home this season.  The next match up is against Sierra College at Cosumnes River, Tuesday, February 11th at 7:30 PM.  Sierra comes into the game having just lost to Santa Rosa 66-56, and now falls to 8-16 overall, 2-8 in the Conference, ranking them 7th in the Big 8.

The Hawks only have 4 games left in the regular season.  Santa Rosa is one game behind them in the Big 8.  The Hawks have to keep taking every game one at a time, and the Big 8 championship may come down to the last game of the season at Santa Rosa.
