Hawks miss 3 to force overtime @ Delta

The Hawks were prepped and ready for another competitive Big 8 matchup on the road versus the Delta Mustangs. First half play started off pretty even with both teams exchanging baskets for the first few possessions. Then, CRC went on a 9-2 run with quick offensive tempo off defensive rebounds. This created  fastbreak opportunities and speedy half court play. CRC did a nice job getting in the paint and attacking the rim off the dribble. This helped them build an early 15-7 lead. After a Delta timeout, the Mustangs chipped away at their deficit to tie the game with 4 minutes remaining in the half. The game continued to back-and-forth until the Delta went on an 8-0 run in the final 1:30 of the half. Delta converted a lay-up, score in the paint and-one, and finished the half hitting a buzzer beating 3. The score was 43-35 at the half.

In the second half, Delta carried a two possession lead for most of the half, but did lead by as much as 9 points at the 5:00 mark. Over the next 3 minutes, De'Rajaee Austin started a strong CRC run with a drive and score and-one. Jordan Roberson hit back-to-back threes to cap a 12-3 run and tie the game at 72 with 2 minutes left in the game. With 7 seconds left, Delta had the ball baseline out of bounds in the full court. CRC went for a quick steal, but were forced to foul. Delta was in the bonus and made both free throws with 5 seconds remaining to take a 77-74 lead. CRC's De'Rajaee Austin dribbled the length of the court and had a decent look at a three to send the game into overtime but just missed on the left side of the rim at the buzzer.

CRC sits in the middle of the Big 8 Conference at 2-2 and 6-8 overall. The next game is on Clark Court at CRC against in-town rival Sacramento City this Tuesday at 7:30pm.
