UKIAH (11-15) – Cosumnes River traveled to Ukiah to take part in the John Hogue Memorial Classic. The Hawks played their first game of the tournament against Los Medanos College.
This afternoon's game was a battle of offensive runs. Both teams had several moments in both halves where runs were made, and leads were exchanged back and forth. The Hawks led 37-34 at the half.
The Hawks had balanced scoring with five players in double figures. Solid defense as well as consistent execution of the offense provided successful perimeter shooting. The Hawks hit nine threes and shot 43% from outside the arc. With 2:27 left, the Hawks led 73-64. However, with a combination of untimely errors and a scoring lull that lasted the remainder of regulation play, the Mustangs forced overtime. The Mustangs' momentum carried into the overtime period, and Los Medanos won 79-76.
Drew Buggs and Xavier Osby scored thirteen points apiece, Marcus Robinson and Samuel Cota scored twelve points apiece and Paul Ohiri had ten for the Hawks.
The next game for the Hawks will be tomorrow as they will take on College of the Redwoods in Ukiah.
