40th Annual James Clark Classic Starts Thursday

SACRAMENTO (11-27) – Cosumnes River will host the 40th Annual James Clark Classic this weekend. The tournament will start on Thursday with first round competition. On Friday, the second round will commence and on Saturday, the tournament will conclude with the seventh place game, consolation championship, the third place game and championship game.

As follows is a preview of the tournament competitors:

Cosumnes River – The Hawks finished 8-18 last year. The Hawks return Drew Buggs (7.2 ppg) and Paul Ohiri (6 ppg) from last season. The Hawks are the defending runners-up of the James Clark Classic.

College of the Siskiyous – The Eagles finished 3-22 last year. The Eagles return Alex Velazquez (12.8 ppg) and Noe Ramirez (2.8 ppg) from last season.

Feather River – The Golden Eagles finished 18-10 last year and finished their season in the first round of the CCCAA Men's Basketball Championship. The Golden Eagles finished fifth in last year's James Clark Classic.

Las Positas – The Hawks finished 18-11 last year and finished their season in the first round of the CCCAA Men's Basketball Championship. The Hawks return Alvon Marshall (5 ppg), Alafia Oluwosogo (4 ppg) and Goose Persin (2.7 ppg) from last year's team. The Hawks are the defending champions of the James Clark Classic.

Merced – The Blue Devils finished 4-22 last year. The Blue Devils return two of its top four scorers from last season.  

Napa Valley – The Storm finished 16-11 last year. Malcom Bracy (2.5 ppg) returns this season for the Storm. The Storm finished sixth in last year's James Clark Classic.

Reedley – The Tigers finished 11-15 last year. Ruben Parks (18.7 ppg) returns to the Tigers this season.

Sacramento City – The Panthers finished 16-13 last year. Terry Moody and Kyle Williams return to the Panthers this year.
