Hawks Fall To Eagles On Opening Night of the James Clark Classic

SACRAMENTO (11-29) – The Hawks opened the 40th Annual James Clark Classic as they took on College of the Siskiyous. The Eagles defeated the Hawks 76-72.

Many Hawks' players got into foul trouble as well as missed free throws and timely turnovers gave the Eagles a chance to win the ballgame. The Eagles played with an inspired effort by Alex Velazquez who lost a close friend and roommate a few days ago. Velazquez scored a game high twenty-eight points.

The game was close the entire contest and the Hawks continued to compete hard despite several missed opportunities to take control. With less than ten seconds left, Keilen Valdry hit a deep two-pointer to trim the Eagles' lead to four.

Khari Hutt scored thirteen points, Paul Ohiri and Drew Buggs scored twelve points and Marcus Robinson had eleven points.

The next game for the Hawks is tomorrow as they take on Merced College.
