Hawks Fall to CCCMBCA #8 Mustangs

STOCKTON (2-1) – The Hawks traveled down Highway 99 to take on CCCMBCA #8 San Joaquin Delta College in Stockton. The Mustangs defeated the Hawks 67-52.  

From the start, the Hawks struggled offensively against the Mustangs' defense. The Hawks started the game 1-for-6 from the floor in the first three minutes until Paul Ohiri scored on five straight possessions in the paint and free throw line. The Hawks took their first lead 12-11 with 11:39 left in the half. At 19-17, the Hawks had starters Khari Hutt and Ohiri on the bench due to foul trouble. The Hawks maintained a lead at 24-22 with about five minutes remaining in the half with scoring from Keilen Valdry. From that moment until halftime, the Mustangs went on a 16-2 run to close the half with a 38-26 lead. 

In the second half, the Hawks cut the deficit to 46-38 with just over thirteen minutes remaining in the game, but the Hawks did not get any closer.

The loss ended the Hawks' three game winning streak.

Brandon Gray had fourteen points, two rebounds, one assist and one steal, Ohiri had a double-double with thirteen points, ten rebounds, one assist, one block and two steals and Marcus Robinson had ten points, seven rebounds, five assists and three blocks

The next game for the Hawks is Tuesday as they take on Sacramento City College in Sacramento at 7:30 pm.
