SACRAMENTO (2-12) – Cosumnes River returned home to take on Modesto Junior College at Clark Court. The Hawks outscored the Pirates by thirteen in the first half and defeated the Pirates 82-74.
In the first half, the Hawks started the game on a 12-2 run in the first four minutes. The momentum from the run fueled the Hawks offense. The Hawks' half court man defense contained the Pirates and made every shot challenging for the Pirates. The Hawks led 42-29 at halftime.
In the second half, the Hawks had a brief cold spell offensively. The Pirates trimmed the Hawks' lead to 73-71 with 3:33 remaining. The Hawks ended the game on a 9-3 run which sealed the 82-74 victory.
Khari Hutt had twenty-seven points, one rebound, five assists and one steal, Drew Buggs had seventeen points and nine rebounds, Marcus Robinson had sixteen points, four rebounds, one assist and three steals, and Paul Ohiri had five points, fourteen rebounds, three assists and one steal.
The next game for the Hawks is Thursday as they take on Sierra College in Rocklin at 7:30 pm.
