Hawks Defeat Beavers on Sophomore Night

SACRAMENTO (2-19) – The Hawks hosted their final Big 8 Conference game of the season as they took on American River College at Clark Court. The Hawks won 90-85.

The Hawks started the game on a 12-4 run. After a Beavers' timeout two minutes into the contest, the Hawks continued to maintain a solid lead for the next ten minutes of the first half. With 7:26 left, the Hawks led 29-21. After that, the Hawks locked down their defense created offensive advantages in transition. The Hawks led 46-27 at halftime.

In second half play, the Beavers came out more aggressively with full court pressure and half court trapping to speed up the tempo. Both teams really thrived offensively in the second half. American River fought back and cut the lead to 82-78. Cosumnes River held on for a 90-85 home victory

The win marked the Hawks' ninth in their last twelve games.

Khari Hutt had twenty three points, four rebounds, seven assists and two steals, Drew Buggs had nineteen points, seven rebounds and two steals, Paul Ohiri had seventeen points, six rebounds and one block and Marcus Robinson had fifteen points, eight rebounds, seven assists and one steal.

The Hawks await the CCCAA playoff seeding on Sunday. The opponent, location, and date of the game will be announced that evening.
