41st Annual James Clark Classic Starts Thursday

SACRAMENTO (12-2) – Cosumnes River will host the 41st Annual James Clark Classic this weekend. The tournament will start on Thursday with first round competition. On Friday, the second round will take place and on Saturday, the tournament, for the first time in its history, adds a seventh place game at noon and will conclude with the consolation championship at 2 pm, the third place game at 4 pm and championship game at 6 pm.

As follows is a preview of the tournament competitors:

Cosumnes River – The Hawks finished 17-13 last year and finished their season in the second round of the CCCAA Men's Basketball Championship. The Hawks return Kenneth Cooley, Terrell Gardner, Brandon Gray (5.6 ppg) and Dillon Iyawe from last season. The Hawks are the two-time runners-up of the James Clark Classic.

College of the Siskiyous – The Eagles finished 8-20 last year. The Eagles return Montell Willis (13.8 ppg), Bishop Thomas (12.2 ppg), J'Quail Hanks (6 ppg), Justin Kirk (3.5 ppg), Christian Gillette and James Hughes from last season.

Feather River – The Golden Eagles finished 13-10 last year. The Golden Eagles return Jacob Rick from last season. The Golden Eagles are the defending consolation champions.

Las Positas – The Hawks finished 21-7 last year and finished their season in the second round of the CCCAA Men's Basketball Championship. The Hawks return Michael Hayes (23.7 ppg), Wesley Burse (8.9 ppg) and Tyler Langowski (2.8 ppg) from last year's team. The Hawks are the two-time defending champions of the James Clark Classic.

Merced – The Blue Devils finished 12-16 last year.  

Napa Valley – The Storm finished 5-23 last year. Braxton Adderly (10.9 ppg), Saleem Ali-Musa (9.1 ppg), Dakota Macias (1.2 ppg) and Amir Nakhaei (0.8) return this season for the Storm. The Storm finished sixth in last year's tournament.

Reedley – The Tigers finished 9-19 last year. Uriah Carter (18.9 ppg) and Dwayne Howell (7.7 ppg) return to the Tigers this season.

Sacramento City – The Panthers finished 16-14 last year. Conor Jeffery (10.5 ppg), Quiezhee Gantt (3.7 ppg) and Terry Moody return to the Panthers this year.
