Big Night in the Big8 for Hawks

CRC Hawks (7-10, 1-4) @ Modesto College (8-11, 3-3)

@ Modesto College

Modesto, Calif – Since winning their opening Big8 Conference game against Sierra back on December 19, the Hawks (7-10, 1-4) have lost four straight. Tonight, they faced the Pirates of Modesto College (8-11, 3-3) on the road. CRC has been looking to improve their team defense and find ways to get freshman guard Adam Orr more productive shots in the offense. As expected in conference play, opponents have had a radar lock on Orr when he is on the floor because of his stellar shooting.

Up 4-2 in the opening moments, Modesto started the game quickly by hitting back-to-back threes and stretch the lead to 10-2 at the 16:25 mark. After a CRC timeout and trying to find their rhythm, the Hawks cut the deficit to 29-24 on a three by Orr with 2:58 left in the half. CRC went into the locker room down 37-29.

Unfortunately, in the second half, Modesto broke it open. For the game CRC gave up 12 offensive rebounds and 18 second chance points to the Pirates. It was the biggest loss of the season and very tough to swallow for the Hawks. CRC dropped this contest 88-60.

Andre Huddleston led the team with 13 points and 4 assists. Orr finished with 12 points. Dillon Iyawe nearly had a double-double with 9 points and 10 boards.

The Hawks come home to finish the week against Big8 rival Sac City at 7:30pm Friday.
