Evangelista Named Assistant Coach

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Head men’s soccer coach Ron Preble announced Brandon Evangelista has joined his staff for the 2013 season.  He will take over lead assistant coach and goalkeeper coach duties effective immediately.

This will be Coach Evangelista’s first season as a member of the Cosumnes River men’s soccer staff.  He played for Coach Preble at CRC during the 2005 and 2006 seasons at goalkeeper.  Coach Evangelista continued his career at Menlo College before injuries ended his career in 2007.  He currently serves as the goalkeeper coach for Elk Grove Soccer Club, and as an assistant coach for the U18 Elk Grove Boys Team.

Evangelista began playing soccer at an early age, and has played competitive soccer from U10 thru U19.  He’s competed for CVU, San Juan, Placer, River City and Sac United.  A four-year varsity soccer player for Foothill High School, Evangelista was named MVP, team captain and Capital Valley All-Conference.  He also competed for three years on the varsity football team as the team’s kicker.  Coach Evangelista also competed on the state’s ODP team for four years and spent one year on ODP regional team.  He’s also appeared in pre-season matches for the Sacramento Knights, and also played for the semi-pro indoor team Soccer World FC.

Luke Olson returns as an assistant coach with the Hawks, while the team has also added former CRC soccer player Joel Rodriguez.  Cosumnes River kicks off the 2013 season later this month with a home match against Feather River.  The home-opener is schedule for August 27th, with kickoff scheduled for 4:30.
