Hawks Men Release 2013 Roster

Hawks Men Release 2013 Roster

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Assistant Coach Brandon Evangelista announced the 2013 Cosumnes River men’s soccer roster this afternoon before practice.

The 2013 Hawks will be a talented, but youthful bunch, as they return only one player from last season's roster.  Their freshman will be counted on immediately to play a major role for the Hawks, but a talented bunch of newcomers may be up to the task.  CRC also returns two sophomores from the 2011 season, whose experience will prove to be invaluable in leading this young team.

The lone returner from the 2012 season is defender Francisco Ornellas, who will see time in the Hawks backfield once again.  Forward Darrien Parker and midfielder Eliezer Ramos also return to the fold for the Hawks.  Both were members of the 2011 roster, but redshirted last season and didn’t see any action.  The Hawks will count on a number of freshmen at key positions this season, so it’ll be up to head coach Ron Preble and his staff to coach them up to get the most out of them.

Head Coach Ron Preble returns for his fourteenth season at the helm for the Cosumnes River men’s soccer team.  Preble was a standout student-athlete at Cosumnes River College and California State University, Sacramento.  He achieved accolades such as All Nor-Cal, Pepsi Scholar Athlete, and Team MVP Overall.  Coach Preble returned to CRC in the fall of 1997 as an assistant to then-coach Travis Parker.  In the spring of 1999, before serving as the CRC Interim Head Coach, he served as an assistant coach and then the Interim head coach and general manager for the Sacramento Geckos in the A-League, the Professional Division of the United Soccer Leagues.  In 2000 after completing his Master’s Degree in Physical Education-Sports Management, Coach Preble was hired to fill the full-time Head Coach position at CRC.  He will be joined on the sidelines by goalkeeper coach Brandon Evangelista, and assistant coaches Luke Olson and Joel Rodriguez.

The 2013 season will be an exciting one at Cosumnes River College for soccer, as the college will once again play host to the CCCAA men’s and women’s state championships.  The matches will take place on December 6 and 8, on the newly constructed CRC soccer fields.

Tickets are available at the gate for each event.  Admission is always free for CRC faculty, staff, and students with valid identification.
