HAWKS EXTEND UNDEFEATED STREAK WITH 1-0 ROAD VICTORY OVER COS

VISALIA, Calif.- The Cosumnes River men's soccer team extended their undefeated streak to three matches yesterday when they defeated the Giants of the College of the Sequoias on the road.

The Hawks, coming off a road victory over Delta and a 1-1 draw at home against undefeated Modesto JC, travelled south for their match against Sequoias and imposed their will on the Giants.  They controlled tempo for the majority of the contest, attacking the Giants on all fronts, maintaining possession and control of the match.  "It was a good game, we stayed within our system and kept possession most of the game," said assistant coach Brandon Evangelista.  "We won 1-0, but it could have been 6-0."  "We hit the posts about six times."

CRC's offense let loose on the Giants for much of the afternoon, putting 20 shots on goal.  Cosumnes River's lone score came on an Isaac McDaniel (pictured right) goal.  The team missed plenty of opportunities late in the match to really put the contest out of reach, but CRC managed to hold on for the 1-0 victory.  "Our choices on the final pass to goal and (our) shot selection kept us from scoring more," said Evangelista.

The Hawks return home this Friday when they will play host to Taft.  They'll remain home through next Tuesday, when they will host CVC opponent Fresno City College.
