MCDANIEL NAMED STUDENT-ATHLETE OF THE WEEK FOR THE SECOND STRAIGHT WEEK

SACRAMENTO, Calif.- Isaac McDaniel (Oakland, Calif./Grant), a freshman forward for the Cosumnes River men’s soccer team, has been named CRC’s Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of October 13-19.  This is the second time McDaniel has received the honor this season.

McDaniel scored goals in three consecutive contests, including four of the team’s last five before the West Hills match, as CRC has extended their undefeated streak to six matches after completing two more matches against Central Valley Conference opponents.  McDaniel scored two goals against CVC and northern California regional power Fresno City last Tuesday at home to lead the team to a 3-2 victory.  Prior to that, he led the Hawks to victories over CVC foes Taft and Sequoias.

McDaniel has scored in six matches this season, leading the Hawks in this statistical category with nine on the season.  His nine goals currently leads the Big 8 conference, is good for second in the CCCAA North region, and fifth in the state.  The Hawks haven’t lost in six matches, and currently sit in third place in the Big 8 conference standings heading back into Big 8 play this week.

This is McDaniel’s second time receiving the Student-Athlete of the Week award.  He was also awarded the honor this past week following standout performances against CVC opponents Taft and Sequoias.  This is the fourth time a member of the men’s soccer team has received the honor this season.  CRC returns to Big 8 play later this week when they travel to take on crosstown rival American River on the road.
