Hawks chase off Golden Eagles 4-1

After a tough 5-2 loss on Tuesday to the perennial soccer power Fresno, the Hawks were ready for a victory and they went out and got it.

The Hawks struck quick as they scored first in the 11th minute on a goal from Efrain Serrano Jr. with an assist from Cameron Peuse. The goal for Serrano was his first of the year and the assist from Peuse was his second on the season.

Bryan Gonzalez was next man up for the Hawks scoring in the 35th minute on an unassisted gaol which was his second of the year, eventually turning out to be the game winner in the 4-1 victory.

Eric Figueroa scored next to finish out the first half as he put one in the net in the 41st minute for the 3-0 halftime lead. Figueroa's goal was his second of the year and it was unassisted as well.

The Hawks had a 7-5 advantage over the Golden Eagles in shots on goal in the first half.

In the second half, after a Golden Eagles goal in the 80th minute, the Hawks scored 90 seconds later to cap the scoring at 4-1 as Jesus Cota scored. Cota's goal was the third for him on the season.

In the match, the Hawks were out shot 11-10 and Antonio Welch saved three of the four shots on goal he faced.

It was a very physical but clean game as there were 28 fouls in the game, although there were just five yellow cards on the two teams.

Next up for the Hawks this week is a home game against Modesto on Friday at 4pm on the CRC pitch.
