Disallowed Goal Leads to Loss In Season Opener

Sacramento (8-30) - The CRC men's soccer team didn't seem to have luck on their side dropping their first match of the season to the visiting Hawks of Evergreen Valley College 2-0.

With the majority of possession throughout the match, it seemed that CRC were going to get their breakthrough at any moment. However, the visitors got on the board first in the 34th minute when last year's first team Big 8 conference goalkeeper sophomore Hector Grajeda's save was deflected off the crossbar and found an EVC striker to take the 1-0 lead.

In the 2nd half, CRC took control of the match and had what seemed to be a clear goal disallowed in the 60th minute. With numbers pushed forward to look for the tying goal, EVC was able to catch CRC on the counter and seal the game in the 90th minute for a 2-0 victory.

CRC finished with 5 shots and 6 corners in their loss.

Up next for CRC is their first away match of the season when they play Feather River College Friday at 2 pm.
