Hawks Bounce Back With 5-0 Win

SACRAMENTO (10-9) – Cosumnes River had to endure their most difficult week of the season last week by dropping two critical conference matches back to back. Yesterday was the start of a new week and the Hawks found their winning ways again.

In the first half, the Hawks scored within the first thirty seconds of the game on a Roy Rangel shot to give the Hawks the early 1-0 lead. Francisco Comparan continued his scoring ways with two goals inside the first eleven minutes of the match. His first of the match came when Edgar Lopez played a pass that all Comparan had to do is tap in for his sixth goal of the season. Four minutes of clock time later, Comparan got his second goal when Lopez served his corner into the box which found Comparan's head for his seventh goal of the season. Julio Leal Ruiz was able to get his first goal of the year off an assist from Daniel Ramirez to take the commanding 4-0 lead.

In the second half, Brandon Ryan was able to get his second of the year off an assist from Luis Sandoval to give the Hawks a 5-0 lead.

Gabriel Essex earned his first start and first shutout of the season while recording five saves.

The Hawks will go on the road for their next two matches starting Friday as they take on Clovis Community College in Clovis at 4 pm.
