Hawks Fall 3-1 to Beavers

SACRAMENTO (10-26) - Cosumnes River opened up the second half of Big 8 Conference play Friday when they hosted American River College. The Beavers scored two late goals to top the Hawks 3-1.

In the first half, both teams exchanged chances in the first half with the best chance falling to the Hawks when an open shot came from eight yards out, but the shot was missed wide left. The two teams were tied 0-0 at the half.

In the second half, the Beavers got on the scoreboard first. In the 45th minute, Jonas Babel-Buckner scored to give the Beavers a 1-0 lead. In the 80th minute, Lincoln Carvalho was awarded a penalty kick and scored his sixth of the year tying the match at 1-1. In the 85th minute, Santiago Moreno scored to give the Beavers the lead for good at 2-1. In injury time, Dalton Catanzaro scored to give the Beavers their final tally of the match to extend the Beavers' lead to 3-1.

Next up for the Hawks is a trip to Folsom to take on Folsom Lake College on Tuesday at 6 pm.
