Hawks Play To 2-2 Draw With Pirates

MODESTO (11-2) – Cosumnes River traveled to Modesto to take on Modesto Junior College in Big 8 Conference play.

In the first half, the Pirates would get on the scoreboard first. Alejandro Zamora scored in the tenth minute after an Armando Felix pass to give the Pirates a 1-0 lead. The Hawks would respond three minutes of clock time later as Edgar Lopez was able to capitalize off a Pirates' defensive error to tie the match at 1-1. The two teams were tied at 1-1 at halftime.

The second half was similar to the first as the Hawks outshot the Pirates 14-5. In the 60th minute, Zamora was able to steal a pass back to Hawks' goalkeeper Gabriel Essex and scored to give the Pirates the lead at 2-1. In the 85th minute, Francisco Comparan was able to find Roy Rangel for the shot to tie the match at 2-2.

The tie extended the Hawks' winless streak to three.

The Hawks will start a two match homestand to end the regular season. The next match for the Hawks will be on Tuesday as the Hawks host Santa Rosa Junior College. Kickoff is set for 3 pm.
