Hawks Defeat Bear Cubs 2-1

SACRAMENTO (11-6) - Cosumnes River started their final homestand of the season as they took on Santa Rosa Junior College in Sacramento. The Hawks topped the Bear Cubs 2-1.

In the first half, the Hawks would get on the scoreboard first. In the 35th minute, the Hawks were able to catch the Bear Cubs on a great counter-attack Francisco Comparan was able to break through the right side of the defense and found Roy Rangel for the goal – Rangel's sixth goal of the season. The Hawks led 1-0 at halftime. 

In the second half, the Hawks would score again. In the 60th minute, Rangel was fouled in the box which led to a penalty kick. Lincoln Carvalho converted on the kick - his seventh goal of the season – to give the Hawks a 2-0 lead. In the 88th minute, the Bear Cubs trimmed the Hawks' lead to 2-1 on a Rigo Barragan goal.

The win ended the Hawks' three match winless streak.

The Hawks will host their final match of the regular season as they take on San Joaquin Delta College in Sacramento. Kickoff is set for 3 pm.
