AMANDA HORBASCH, AWARDED NORCAL PITCHER OF THE WEEK TWICE

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Amanda Horbasch has been awarded the Northern California Pitcher of the Week twice this season by the California Community College Athletic Association.  Horbasch is a freshman Pitcher and Utility player from Woodcreek High School in Roseville, California.  Amanda has led the Hawks from the mound this year as well as from the plate.  She has been a leader on and off the field for the Hawks this season, and has earned the respect from her teammates, coach's, and the league.        

Horbasch is an outstanding pitcher from Roseville; she has played softball for 14 years, and was a 3-year varsity starter at Woodcreek high school.  As a pitcher in high school she had an overall ERA of 1.34, and had a total of 311 strikeouts over 282 innings pitched.  Horbasch is now leading the Hawks softball team from the mound.  Amanda has pitched in a total of 11 games, and started on the mound in 9 of those games, her current record is 9-1, ranking her 9th in the state in wins category for pitching.  She has pitched a total of 66 innings and has 91 strikeouts, ranking her 6th in the state in the strikeout category.  She has given up only 39 hits and 16 runs, and as an ERA of 1.59, ranking her 10th in the state in the ERA category.  She also ranks 4th in the state in shutouts with a total of 5.     

It does not stop there for Amanda, because she is also an excellent batter, and leads the Hawks in the hitting category.  So far in the season, she has been up to bat 55 times, combining for 21 hits and 9 runs.  Horbasch also has 1 double, 1 triple, 1 home run, and a total of 11 RBI's.  Horbasch has only struck out twice this far in the season and has a batting average of .382, an on base percentage of .460, and a slugging percentage of .491.  

Amanda has been awarded the Northern California Pitcher of the Week twice already this season by the California Community College Athletic Association in the weeks of February 13th and March 10th.  Horbasch was also Honorable Mention for CCCAA Female Athlete of the Month, for the month of February.  Head Coach Kristy Schroeder says, "Amanda is the type of student athlete any coach at any level would love to have. She epitomizes what we want our student athletes to be. She takes care of business academically, she's a great teammate, she's a great athlete, she works hard, and she takes pitching lessons on the side when she's not with our team.  She kind of covers all aspects and that's what you have to do if you want to be able to continue on at the next level." 

Amanda and the Hawks have an overall record of 12-7, and a conference record of 3-2, ranking them 4th in the Big 8 so far this season.  The Hawks next match up will be Tuesday March 18th, at home against Sacramento at 3:30 PM.
