Amanda Horbasch

Amanda is a member of the Hawks Softball Program, and this is Amanda's second Student-Athlete of the Week honor. Amanda is a standout in the classroom and on the field. Amanda is ranked 1st in the Big 8 Conference for striking out her opponents and 3rd in the State. Additionally, Amanda ranks 5th in the State with her win/loss ratio. Amanda is an excellent, positive, and supportive teammate who has received a full ride scholarship to CSU San Marcos.

Amanda Horbasch is a full time student-athlete at CRC where she competes with the Hawks Softball Program. She is finishing up her last semester at CRC, and will be transferring this Fall to CSU San Marcos to play softball and work towards a career in medicine. With all of her hard work in school and athletics, Amanda has chosen a special career. Amanda wants to work with children as a pediatric physical therapist. When asked about how softball fits into her educational life, Amanda said that the time consuming sport has made her a better student in the classroom. She said, "I believe softball makes my education better because it motivates me to get good grades in the classroom so I can continue to play the sport I love." Softball has taught has Amanda the skills of a lifetime that include teamwork, communication, and time management.

When asked about how CRC enhances her sports/educational career, Amanda stated that CRC provides interesting and important opportunities for students who seek success. She stated that she has an athletic counselor, a study hall that includes tutors specifically for athletes, and athletic trainers to take care of the injuries. CRC takes care of its Hawks! Amanda added that the Head Softball Coach, Kristy Schroeder, is an amazing coach because she helped Amanda develop into "a stronger player mentally and physically." All in all, Amanda believes the resources at CRC have provided her with the tools she needs to be successful on and off the field in the future.

Amanda would like to leave her fans with a final note: "I would like people to know that without the support of my parents, coaches, and teammates throughout the years, I would not be as successful as I am today."
