The Hawks beat Butte College 8-0 in five innings on Friday after a five-run explosion in the third inning to take game 1 of the doubleheader.
The Hawks pounded out 12 hits in 5 innings while scoring in the third on a two-run double by Kacey Lutz, an RBI triple by Amber Wright, an RBI single by Kaitlin Pires, and an RBI single by Raechel Hooper .
Wright racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Hawks as well as Lutz 2 RBIs on 1 hit.
The Hawks' Aimee Hutchinson kept Butte off the scoreboard for all five innings she was on the rubber. She pitched a shutout, allowing no opposing players to cross the plate on four hits while ringing up seven.
In game 2 of the doubleheader, the Hawks jumped out to an early lead on Butte and captured a 9-0 victory in 6 innings pounding out another 10 hits.
The game was decided quickly as the Hawks exerted its will early with six runs in the first three innings.
A sacrifice fly by Daniela Medina during the first inning and an RBI triple by Brenda Velasquez , an error, and a two-run single by Raechel Hooper in the second inning fueled the Hawks' offense early.
Angelica Dark got the win in game 2 as she threw a 5 hit shutout to bring the Hawks record to 10-1 on the early season.
The Hawks open a 6 game home stand Thursday against Sequoias with a 12 pm start time for game 1 of a doubleheader.
