Hawks Take Two From Sac City To Sweep Season Series

The Hawks helped their conference standings (9-5) by handing Sac City two losses on Tuesday with a 7-3 win in game 1 and a 12-1 win in game 2. 

The Hawks pounded out 11 hits that provided 7 runs in game 1 with Veronica Smith going 3 for 4 at the plate and picking up 2 RBIs. Courtney Beatty added an RBI on a solo home run in the top of the 4th. Alex Scardina went 1 for 2.

Brittany Baroni provide strong pitching to get the win for The Hawks going 7 innings giving up 6 hits, striking out 6 and allowing 1 earned run. 

Game 2 The Hawks were efficient at the plate putting up 12 runs on 12 hits in a 5 inning contest. Cecilia Rivera went 3 for 3 and picked-up 3 RBIs while Courtney Beatty went 2 for 4 with 2 RBIs. Chelsea Martinez and Veronica Smith both went 2 for 3 at the plate with Martinez picking up 4 RBIs. Courtney Beatty picked up her second home run on the day while Chelsea Martinez added 2 home runs in the game with one coming in the top of the 3rd and a 3-run shot in the top of the 5th.

Brittany Baroni picked up her second win on the day going 5 innings giving up 5 hits, striking out 3 and allowing 1 earned run.

On the day, Veronica Smith hit .714, Cecilia Rivera hit .571, and Courtney Beatty hit .500. Brittany Baroni picked up both wins throwing 12 innings with an ERA of 1.75 for the day.

The Hawks will continue conference play when they host Sierra College Saturday at CRC Stadium in a double header. Game 1 is scheduled to start at 12:00 pm. Fans can follow along on GameChanger.
