Hawks Comeback to Defeat Sac City 5-3

With a furious comeback, the 14th-ranked Cosumnes River Hawks beat conference rival Sacramento City College 5-3 at CRC Softball Field this afternoon. The Hawks were led by Emily Johnson who went 2-4 and Layla Towner who scored two runs. A.J. Dahdouh used nine strikeouts to earn her fourth win of the season.

"I was really happy about the way we stayed in the game." said head coach Kristy Schroeder. "We ended up pushing some runs across at the end of the game and AJ came through in the circle with some key strikeouts."

Sac City jumped to an early 2-0 lead in the third inning. The score held until the fifth inning when Trinity Jordan's sacrifice fly scored Dahdouh. An Emily Johnson single pushed across Layla Towner to tie it up. CRC posted its first lead when Kalie Toy scored on a bases-loaded walk. The Hawks added two insurance runs in the sixth. Toy singled home Dahdouh, and Towner scored when Johnson forced a Sac City error. Daudouh used two strikeouts to get out of a 7th inning jam to seal the win.

CRC is back in action Thursday at Santa Rosa for a make-up game.
