The CRC ladies basketball team played perhaps their best game of the year, at least in the Big 8 Conference play as they downed the cross town rival American River College Beavers. The Hawks jumped out to several 10 plus point leads in the first quarter and early second period. The Beavers fought back as they played some tough defense to make it close at halftime. The second half was your typical charged atmosphere conference game with the lead swinging back and forth until the final couple of minutes when the Hawks pulled away for the 64-59 victory.
Alyna Kanae with 23 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists led the Hawks. Daija Ward chipped in with 15 points and 5 boards for the Hawks. Nayani Gordon, was the rebound leader with 8 for the Hawks and she played some excellent defense down the stretch mostly guarding taller ARC post players.
The Hawks next game is on Thursday at CRC and it is sophomore night against Sierra College.
