Hawks drop season opener against Siskiyous 100-53

The Hawks Women's basketball season opener wasn't what they had hoped for, even after going up 4-0 in the early minutes. The Eagles started out hot from beyond the arc and never really cooled down as they ran out to a 55-29 halftime lead and never looked back.

Siskiyous kept the pressure on with their ball movement and inside rebounding game in the secomd half outscoring the Hawks 45-24 for the 100-53 final.

Three Hawks were in double figures led by Daija Ward who had 15 points followed by Briana Barnes scoring 12 and Trina Shaner who had 11. Shaner hit the only three pointer the Hawks made as they were 1 for 24 beyond the three point line on the evening. The Hawks shot just 23 percent from the field for the game.

Taneisha Dyer had six points along with five steals and five rebounds on the night. Nayani Gordon had five points and five rebounds before fouling out in the fourth quarter. QuoQuese Jackson had three points and three rebounds for the Hawks as well.

Ward was the leading rebounder for CRC with 9 boards as the Hawks had to fight for rebounds all night against the Eagles.
