Hawks show promise in Solano Tournament!

Game One: Feather River College

Yes it was a loss but the Hawks were up early in the fourth qtr by double digits and it slipped away even though they had a chance late to tie it up. The 84-81 loss was a springboard for the next night's game as the Hawks were angry and wanted a win against anyone.

Against the Golden Eagles the Hawks had four players in double figures as Jasmine Chapman led the way with 19 points, 4 blocks, 3 assists and, 2 steals.

Daija Ward had another solid all around game with 18 points 8 rebounds, 6 steals, 2 blocks and assists for her nights work.

Gina Ingravallo followed with 13 points and 6 assists and Nayani Gordon had 10 points, 9 rebounds 5 steals, and 4 blocks.

FRC had 38 tournovers and the Hawks had 22 steals and 15 blocks in the game.

Game Two:  Los Medanos College

The Hawks came out with Fire in their eyes and took it out on Los Medanos by the tune of 102-34. As Coach Sage put it, "The team was really upset about the Friday game and just wanted to beat somebody, and they played really well."

A 100 point performance for the Hawks is something Sage never remembers in her tunure at all, "No, we have never had a 100 point game and even more important I don't think there has ever been a 70 (68) point victory either in the program. We did a lot of things really well and it was good for the team to see something like this happen and show them that they are capable of it, we just need to get that kick to get over the hump regularly."

The Hawks had 50 rebounds on the night of which 22 were offensive while having 21 assists and an incredible 34 steals and interestingly enough only 1 blocked shot. 

Trina Shaner led the way with 22 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 steals. Shaner shot 3-8 from the 3 point arc as the Hawks had one of their best efforts from there making 6 of 17.

Daija Ward followed with 20 points and 9 rebounds along with her 5 steals.

Nayani Gordon had 15 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 steals for the Hawks.

QuoQuese Jackson had the only double-double for the Hawks as she had 14 points and 11 steals as well as her 6 rebounds.

Jasmine Chapman had 9 points and 5 assists, while Akila Britton and Taneisha Dyer had 8 points each for the Hawks. Dyer also contributed 7 assists, 5 rebounds and 4 steals on the evening.

Game Three:  Shasta College

The Hawks dropped a 58-55 game to the Knights after leading going into the fourth quarter.

Daija Ward and Nayani Gordon each had 12 points to pace the Hawks with Gordon pulling down 9 rebounds while Ward had 5 boards.

Both Trina Shaner and Jasmine Chapman had 8 points for the Hawk sbut both were cold from the floor which was a key to the Hawks demise as they only shot 26 % from the field on the night.

QuoQuese Jackson had another strong game with 7 points and 9 rebounds.

For the three games, the Hawks were led by Daija Ward with 50 points and 22 rebounds, Nayani Gordon with 37 points and 25 rebounds, Jasmine Chapman's 36 points, Trina Shaner who had 35 points, and the underrated QuoQuese Jackson who had 26 points,12 rebounds and 11 steals.

Post tournament, the Hawks are now 3-7 even though their last five losses have only been by a combined 21 points.

Next up for the Hawks will be the Mike Gervisoni Tournament at De Anza College on Wednesday through Friday the 28th-30th of December as they close out the 2016 calander year.
