Hawks Continue Tough Preseason Streak

Weed, CA- Cosumnes River College (0-8) took to the road looking to end their tough preseason schedule with a win against the Eagles of College of the Siskiyous (13-2). The Hawks were unable to come away with a victory, losing 66-83 to give the Eagles their 13th victory on the season. This loss ends the tough preseason for the Hawks in which the faced opponents with a combined record of 62-41 on the young season. Only one team in which Cosumnes River College faced had a record that is below .500 as conference play approaches.

Leading the Hawks in points and rebounds during the game, Brookelyn Larkin recorded the only double-double for Cosumnes River. Brookelyn shot 38.5% as she went 10-26 from the field and 7-9 from the free throw line. Trina Shaner provided 20 points as well as 6 steals for the Hawks. Trina shot 33.3% from the field during the game (7-21) as well as 33.3% from the 3-point line (3-9). She also shot 75% from the free throw line (3-4). The Hawks combined to shoot 33.3% from the field. From the free throw line, Cosumnes River College was able to add 19 points as they shot 67.9% from the line. Unfortunately the Hawks had a 8-23 assist to turnover ratio. 

Up Next- The Hawks look forward to a bye week in order to prepare for their Big 8 Conference schedule. First up, the Hawks (0-8) take on American River College (9-3) on Wednesday, December 20th. The game will be played at 5:30 PM. The Hawks start of conference play with two games on the road before their first home game against Folsom Lake on January 4th. Wednesday's game allows the Hawks to start conference play before having 6 days off for the Holidays as well as New Year's Day.
