Hawks Defend Their Home Nest Against Visiting Falcons

Sacramento, CA- After a rough start to the season, Cosumnes River College was looking forward to its' first home conference game against Folsom Lake College. This was the first time the teams have faced off against each other, as Folsom Lake is a new program to Women's Basketball.

The Hawks took an early 26-14 lead in the first quarter and never relinquished the lead to the visiting Falcons. During the next three quarters, the Falcons attempted to comeback with a 55-51 attack. However, the Hawks were able to maintain their lead and took home the 77-69 victory.

 Leading the Hawk offensive attack were starters, Brookelyn Larkin and Trina Shaner. Shooting 37.9% from the field including 3-3 from the free throw line, Brookelyn Larkin paced the Hawk attack with 26 points. Shaner followed close behind with 20 points while shooting 33.3% and 75% from the charity stripe.   

Cosumnes River forced 29 turnovers during the game which helped maintain their lead during their conference game. Despite the rebounds being even at 48, the Hawks led 33-27 in defensive rebounds. Brookelyn Larkin lead the Hawks with 14 rebounds. Quoquese Jackson pulled down 7 rebounds and Micaela Dagler grabbed another 6 rebounds to help the Hawks team effort.

Up Next- The Hawks head back on the road to take on San Joaquin Delta College on Saturday January 5, 2018 at 5:30 pm. The Hawks know that it will be a tough game since Delta is 3-0 in conference play and 10-5 on the season. After Delta, the Hawks return home to face Sacramento City College on Tuesday January 9th at 5:30 pm.
