Hawks Fall Just Short in Furious Comeback Effort Against Beavers

Sacramento, CA- The Hawks took on the Beavers of American River College on Friday, searching for the upset at home. Cosumnes River College entered into the game with expectations of facing a tough team. American River College (13-7) came into the game tied for 4th in the Big 8 Conference standings.

The Hawks struggled out of the gate, falling behind the Beavers 7-18 after the first quarter. At half, the Hawks found themselves behind 15-30. During halftime, something awoke for the Hawks as they outscored the Beavers in the 3rd quarter 13-12. Heading into the 4th quarter, the Hawks had work to do. A 26 point 4th quarter but the Hawks in striking distance to take the game. However, the Hawks efforts fell just short as American River took home the 5-point victory. 

Four of the Cosumnes River College starters played all 40 minutes of the game. After having starting forward Micaela Dagler receiver her 5th foul after 29 minutes, forced the Hawks to play with no substitutes. Brookelyn Larkin lead the Hawks with 21 points and added 6 rebounds to her efforts. Quoquese Jackson paced the Hawks with 12 rebounds and 5 steals on the night.

 Up Next- The Hawks have a bye on Tuesday, but return home on Friday January 26th to face Diablo Valley College at 7:30 PM on Clark Court.
