Hawks Fall to Panthers

SACRAMENTO (2-5) – On Tuesday night, the Hawks were stepping into battle, not only with the CCCSIA #16 Panthers of Sacramento City College, but a battle against Cancer. Still recovering from injuries, the Hawks took the court ready to go. They got off to a slow start but began to find their footing into the first quarter.

The Hawks were able to keep it close until Sacramento City went on a 9-0 run with all nine points coming from behind the arc. As the Hawks worked on tightening up their defense, Brookelyn Larkin knocked down several jumpers of her own to help the Hawks chip away at the Panthers' lead. The Panthers led 41-28 at the half. Larkin led the Hawks with ten points at the half.

In the second half, the Hawks were able to limit the three ball and trimmed the Panthers' lead to seven in the middle of the third quarter. Unfortunately, the injury bug struck the Hawks again as Arianna Santos went down with a sprained ankle. With an always fighting and never say die attitude, the Hawks fought with all they had but again found themselves coming up short in the end. The Hawks lost 80-57 to the Panthers.

The next game for the Hawks is Friday as they take on Santa Rosa Junior College in Santa Rosa. Tipoff is set for 5:30 pm.
