A strong push in the fourth quarter isn't enough for the Hawks to topple the Beavers

Cosumnes River College fell to ARC BEAVERS on Friday, 67-59, even with Chelsea Shirley tallying her 8th double double of the season, scoring 12 points and pulling down 14 rebounds. The Hawks started the fourth quarter on a 15-0 run but key turnovers at the end of the game sealed the Hawks fate. A two-pointer from Kaili Udoffia, ARC BEAVERS helped clinch their win in the fourth quarter.

Despite a strong finish, with 20 points in the final quarter, CRC lady HAWKS failed to secure the win.

Shirley put the most points on the board for Cosumnes River College during the fourth period by scoring six.

Nevaeh Glaindo (9 points) and Briley Jordet (8 points) each contributed multiple three-pointers. Also chipping in for Cosumnes River College were Sarah Hinton (9 points, 4 rebounds, 3 steals), Kiara Jones (8 points, 4 rebounds, 3 blocks, 3 charges), Suraya Cabrera (5 points, 2 rebounds), Mekkah Pharr (4 points, 3 rebounds), Tamia Gray (2 points, 1 rebound), and Veronica Alejandrez (2 points, 4 rebounds, 1 steal). Youth played a big factor in the game with the Hawks starting sophomore point guard and leading scorer sidelined with an ankle sprain. 

Cosumnes River College finished the game with 54 rebounds (26 offensive / 28 defensive), three blocks, six steals and a school record 7 charges taken. 

The Hawks are back on the court as they get ready for a 3 game week. They travel to San Joaquin Delta College on Tuesday Jan 7th to face the #1 state ranked Mustangs, then on a quick turn around, travel to Folsom Lake College on Thursday Jan 9th and then end the week back at home facing the #5 state ranked Diablo Valley College Vikings on Saturday Jan 11th. All games are a 5:30pm tip off.
