ALLISON KREBS NAMED STUDENT-ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

SACRAMENTO, Calif.- Allison Krebs (Cosumnes Oaks HS/Elk Grove), a freshman defender for the women’s soccer team, has been named CRC’s Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Nov. 24-30.  This is the first time Krebs has received the honor.

Krebs (pictured right), a true freshman defender out of Cosumnes Oaks high school in Elk Grove, helped to lead the team to the third round of the CCCAA Northern California Regional playoffs this past week in a pair of matches.  “She was outstanding in both games,” said head coach Cesar Plasencia of his freshman defender.  “Her defending was stellar all year, especially in the postseason.”  The Hawks defeated Santa Rosa 1-0 in the second round of the Nor Cal regionals to make the third round of the playoffs, where they played Foothill this past weekend.  The season concluded with a 2-1 loss to the Owls on Saturday night.

“She had to play a position that she did not play most of the year because of injuries, and did a good job,” said Plasencia of Krebs.  “(She’s) a great teammate and a great player.”  Krebs was part of one of the top defensive teams in the CCCAA this season, helping the Hawks to a 14-6-3 overall mark, including a third place finish in the Big 8 Conference.  CRC also experienced one of their most impressive postseason runs in years, as they were one win short of earning a trip to the CCCAA State Championships, which will be hosted this season at Cosumnes River.

This is Allison Krebs’ first CRC Student-Athlete of the Week honor, as well as the fifth for the women’s soccer team this season.  Sophomore forward Vilma Gonzalez took the honor in consecutive weeks earlier this season, and freshman goalkeeper Anna Brown has taken the honor twice.

Honorable Mention: Janie Myles (women’s basketball).
