THE LADY HAWKS LOOK TO MOVE UP IN THE BIG 8

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The lady Hawks are now 3-1 in Conference play!  They have now improved to an overall record of 4-3-4.  CRC host Modesto and will face the Pirates this Tuesday October 7th at 3:30 PM. Modesto College comes in 3-0-1 in conference play and overall record of 10-0-1 overall.  It looks to be a great match up against the Modesto Pirates, a team that is ranked #6 in the Nation by the NSCAA poll.

The Lady Hawks are on a roll right now in Conference play, and they are led by a force of offensive weapons: Kate Burkhart and Brianna Ascencio.  In Conference play, Ascencio has scored 3 goals to go with 2 assists for a team leading 7 points.  Burkhart is setting up her teammates with 5 assists to go with 1 goal for a total of 7 point in conference play.  With that being said, the defense has played a major role also in the Lady Hawks success early in Conference play.  In the first four games the Lady Hawk defense and goalkeeper have only given up 2 goals for a goal against average of .50 a game.  Head Coach Cesar Plasencia said, "this is a huge game for our aspirations of winning the Big 8 Conference"

One key factor that will set one team apart from the other is who controls the ball possession.  In the Big 8 Conference play so far this season the Hawks are averaging 10.5 shots a game, while only giving up 2 shots against per game in conference play. Modesto College has scored a conference leading 13 goals for while only giving up 4 goals against.
