LADY HAWKS GET GREAT WIN AT SANTA ROSA

Sacramento, Calif. -- After getting at tie Tuesday at the hands of Diablo Valley College, the Cosumnes River Women's Soccer team went on the road Friday afternoon and rallied. The Lady Hawks knocked off their host of the day Santa Rosa Junior College College 1-0.

It didn't take long for CRC to get things going, as they came out ready to play.  The Hawks took 9 shots in the first half with 6 being on goal to Santa Rosa's 3 shots.  The Santa Rosa goalkeeper Morgan Jernigan kept the game close by making 5 saves in the half.  In the 16th minute the CRC Hawk's freshman Kelsey Jantzen made move on the left side to beat a defender to get free so she could serve a cross.  When the cross got to the goal area the Hawks 5'0 freshman Marissa Lopez jump up and headed the ball to the back of the net to score her first college goal! The Hawks would continue to carry the play, but were unable to add any more goals.   This win put CRC and Santa Rosa into a tie for 3rd place with 16 points in the competitive Big 8 Conference.
