Hawks grab win from Solano 5-2

Early season wins go a long way towards building the strength and character of a team and the Hawks women's soccer team took a big stride forward against the Solano Falcons with a 5-2 victory.

The Hawks were led by two goal performances by Averen Calvin and Ariel Klink who scored in the 5th minute with an unassisted goal. With an assist from Calvin, Klink scored again in the 44th minute right before halftime which gave the Hawks a 3-1 lead going into the break.

Averen Calvin scored her first of two goals in the 17th minute of the first half with an assist from Anna Ottley. Andrea Story opened the second half scoring with a goal in the 66th minute off an assist from Maya Kitt.

After a Solano goal Calvin punched in her second goal in the 86th minute to end the scoring as Ottley had her second assist for the Hawks.

For the Hawks Elizabeth Kowalczyk had two saves on four shots on goal against the Falcons attack which never really had much field control. The Hawks ended up with five goals on nine shots during the victory.

Next up for the Hawks will be City College of San Francisco on Friday the 2nd of September at 4pm.
