Hawks Open Big 8 Conference Play with a Loss

SACRAMENTO (9-11) – Cosumnes River dropped their Big 8 Conference opener on Tuesday to Sierra College 2-1.

Freshmen forward Obioma Onejeme gave the Hawks the lead in the 25th minute of the match. Sierra answered back at the 44th minute making the score 1-1 right before halftime. The Wolverines outshot the Hawks 11-2 in the first period. Freshman goalkeeper Tanayjah Tamano made four saves in the first half.

In the second half, the Hawks conceded a heartbreaking goal at the 90th minute of the match. The Wolverines outshot the Hawks 9-4 in the second half and Tamano made three saves.

The Hawks will hit the road on Thursday to take on Sacramento City College. Kickoff is at 6 pm.
