MODESTO (9-28) – The Hawks traveled to Modesto to continue their Big 8 Conference schedule as they took on Modesto Junior College. The Pirates used a late goal to defeat the Hawks 3-2.

In the first half, the Pirates scored one minute in on an Emeli Arevalo goal off a pass from Jocelyn Centeno. Determined to turn the result around, the Hawks built momentum going forward attacking the Pirates. Claire Burkhart beat her defender one-on-one just on top of the eighteen-yard box and slipped a pass to Alexandria Torres to finish the play, equalizing the score 1-1 in the 22nd minute.  Modesto was able to score once again beating Arevalo scoring her second goal of the match and gave the Pirates a 2-1 lead in the 33rd minute. Less than five minutes shy of halftime, the Hawks were awarded with a penalty kick and Alexis Brown converted the shot tying the match at 2-2 in the 40th minute.

In the second half, the Hawks saw several excellent scoring chances fizzle.  Freshmen forward Obioma Onejeme created a few opportunites for her team and had some chances herself. The match was played at a back and forth pace until the Pirates' Morgan Ehlers scored on a shot from nineteen yards out at the 80th minute.

The Hawks will host Santa Rosa Junior College on Tuesday at 3:30 pm.
