Bear Cubs Blank the Hawks

SACRAMENTO (10-2) - The Hawks fell 4-0 to Big 8 Conference powerhouse Santa Rosa Junior College on Tuesday.

In the first half, the Bear Cubs took the lead after an own goal was committed on the 26th minute of play. The Bear Cubs outshot the Hawks in the first half 3-2. Tanayjah Tamano made two saves in the first half. The Bear Cubs led 1-0 at halftime.

In the second half, the Bear Cubs would strike first. Two minutes into the second half, the Hawks found themselves in a 2-0 hole as Celeste Barajas scored. Obioma Onejeme was a key player in the Hawks' goal scoring opportunities. In the 60th minute of play, Kitana Gonzalez's shot rebounded off the crossbar hitting Tamano in the back as she was landing her dive causing the ball to roll in the net. Four minutes later, Santa Rosa scored their fourth and final goal on a Vanessa Gregorio shot.

The Hawks will travel to Stockton to take on San Joaquin Delta College on Friday. Kickoff at 4:30 pm.
