Hawks Battle Top Ranked Delta
Sacramento, Calif. The Lady Hawks hosted top ranked Delta College on Tuesday in Big 8 play. The Lady Hawks battled for 90 minutes, but came out on the losing end 0-2.

Lady's Hawks came out ready for the challenge against Delta College. The Lady Hawks had a plan and were performing it well when in the 15th minute a cross from Luciana Casciaro found Morgan Maddox but a great save from the Delta goalkeeper keep the game at 0-0. A very hard fought first half was scoreless for the first 25 minutes when the strong cross wind helped a cross by Delta end up in the back of the net. It was an unfortunate goal that the solid team defense played by the Hawks could do nothing about. In the 37th minute a penalty kick was awarded to Delta and the Hawks were down 0-2 at the half

The 0-2 deficit did not affect the Lady Hawks as they came out with a purpose in the 2nd half. With the wind at there back the Lady Hawks looked to get the 2 goals back. A shot from freshmen Elissa Ascencio hit the crossbar in the 2nd half and the Hawks were unfortunate to not get a goal from the great effort. The Hawks kept trying to get that goal and got the opportunity on a Helaina Garcia header that went over the crossbar. The game of soccer can be so cruel at times. With all the great chances created by the Hawks, but unfortunately no goals to show the game ended with a 0-2 loss.

Next up for the Lady Hawks they will travel to American River College to take on the Beavers. The Hawks look to get a big road win that will help in the playoff race. Good luck Lady Hawks.
