Two School Records Fall as Hawks Finish Ninth

BAKERSFIELD (3-9) – The Hawks traveled to Bakersfield to take part in the Cuesta Invitational. The Hawks' opposition was from all over the state of California.

Overall, the team dropped significant time in all of their events. Kaeryn Cruz swam the 500 freestyle and shaved off an entire thirty seconds off her time. Baylie Butler's 100 breaststroke was a notable improvement as finished 6.32 seconds faster. Athena Fimbres and Whitney Shara both dropped time in their 100 freestyle times with Fimbres taking 9.56 seconds off and Shara taking 13.74 seconds off. Sabrina Burt, Natalie Garcia Nino and Stephanie Schendel swam well in their individual events with all three dropping time consistently in their races on day one and day two.

Aside from the personal records, Emily Kline set two new school records for the 200 butterfly (3:06.62) and the 400 individual medley (5:41.56).

Cuesta College won the overall event while the Hawks finished tenth overall. Cuesta won the women's team event and placed ninth overall.
