Women's Tennis Falls to Canada

The Cosumnes River Hawks Women’s Tennis team traveled to Canada College where they kicked off their 2016 season.  Leading the way at number one singles was Taylor Galya, using persistent power and control from the baseline, as well as concise volleys, to outpace Canada’s number one, Diana Barcelata, 6-2, 7-6 (7-4).  At the number four spot Kyleigh Carpenter played a balanced, composed brand of tennis to overcome Canada’s Mary Nam, 6-2,6-2.  The Hawks were defeated 4-3 by the home team but, as Coach Brandon Ellis commented, “as soon as our doubles play catches up with our singles, we’ll be in good shape, we have already made great strides in fitness, strategic awareness, and mental toughness.” The Hawks are 0-1 on the young season and will travel to West Vally College for the Mission Tournament which begins on Friday.
