HAWKS STRUGGLES CONTINUE IN LOSS TO LASSEN

SACRAMENTO, Calif.- The Cosumnes River volleyball team suffered their second straight loss this afternoon, as CRC fell to the Lassen Cougars 3-0.  The Hawks struggled mightily in this match, as Lassen jumped on Cosumnes River early, and never let up as the Cougars managed to snap their five match skid.

The first game was all Lassen, as the Cougars jumped out to an early lead, taking the first game 25-10 in convincing fashion.  Game two was much more competitive, as Lassen jumped out early, but the Hawks battled through most of it and kept the game close.  The Cougars were up 15-11 at one point, and continued to trade points throughout game two, before finally putting it away 25-19.

Things didn't look to get much better for the Hawks in the third game, as Lassen jumped out to a 12-3 advantage before head coach Minet Gunther called a timeout to calm the team down.  The Hawks quickly responded, taking the next point and rallying back, closing the Lassen advantage to 16-11 before the Cougars called their own time out.  Unfortunately for the Hawks, the Cougars also responded out of their time out, taking a convincing 23-12 advantage.  Cosumnes River managed one final rally late, as freshman Nancy Pacheco managed three consecutive service aces to close the gap to 23-16, before Lassen took the third game 25-16 to solidify the victory.

CRC doesn't have long to get things back on track, as they will play host to two quality teams this Friday when they host a mini-tournament.  The Hawks will kick things off at noon with a match against Siskiyous, before playing De Anza at 4 PM in the finale.

General admission is $6, $4 for visiting students with ID, and $2 for senior citizens (over 60) and children 8-12.  Admission is free for CRC students, faculty, and staff with valid ID.  Children under eight are also admitted free of charge.
