HAWKS SEEK FIRST BIG 8 VICTORY TONIGHT AGAINST SAC CITY

SACRAMENTO, Calif.-The Cosumnes River volleyball team's struggles continued this past week, as their losing streak extended to three straight matches following the team's 3-0 road loss to Diablo Valley on Wednesday.  The Hawks look to change their fortunes later tonight at home, when they play host to rival Sacramento City.

CRC's recent troubles can be attributed to their inconsistent play, as their freshman core has struggled to maintain their level of play throughout an entire game.  "If there is action it is consistently inconsistent," said assistant coach Natalie Wells following the team's loss to DVC.  "We are not making adjustments and we make one or two mistakes and the team shuts down."  The match, like others the Hawks have lost this season, was a close one.  CRC fell to DVC in three games, 18-25, 18-25 and 21-25.

"Our goals going into the match were to control the things that we can control… serving aggressive to try and take their offense out," said Wells of the team's game plan.  "Starting on our home base to pick up the tips and roll shots while having our hitters get out so they can hit and see the block."  The Hawks kept the match close, but failed to play at a consistent level, allowing the Vikings to close out each game.  "We didn't really ever have control of the match," said Wells.

The Hawks will look to get themselves back on the right track later tonight, when they host the Panthers of Sacramento City College.  The Panthers are currently winless in conference, and haven't won a match since the end of September.  However, Sac City has played well of late against the top teams in conference, so the match should prove to be a quality test for the young Hawks.

Tonight's match is scheduled for 6:30.  Tickets are $6 for general admission, $4 for seniors, and $2 for children.  Admission is always free for CRC students, staff and faculty.  Concessions will be available to purchase at the event.
